Holy Cow – Today is my 2 Year Squidoo Anniversary. I cannot believe it. I have written over 181 lenses (pages) to date at Squidoo. So today I cleaned up my Squidoo Lensography: Who is The Party Animal where I have all of the pages I have written all in one place. So if you have been reading my blog you know that I have been working on clean up. Sometimes you write and things get out dated so you need to go back in and do some major cleaning and I have been working really hard at doing that.It is important to keep things fresh.
If you are reading this and have no idea what Squidoo is all about then I suggest you take a look. I explain it all in my fun style right here: Squidoo-Be Dobee Doo. The best thing about Squidoo is I earn a paycheck every month just for writing all about the things I love. can it get any better than that?
So today I will go bake myself a cake and celebrate my Anniversary and look forward to another year and many more great lenses coming your way – so watch out!!!
I had another Squidoo RocketMom Assignment to make a How To Lens. So I thought that I would create one for parents on How to find The Best Birthday Party Supplies and Ideas for your Party. Being a Party Planner I know that finding just the right Party Supplies and Decorations for your party theme can be a bit overwhelming at times. So I wanted to share all of the great places I use when shopping for a party.
It turned into my Top 10 places to find Birthday Party Supplies. So if you are planning a Birthday Party and looking for the supplies to go along with your theme – then these recommendations will definitely help you along with my tips on purchasing party supplies and decorations.
I also write on Hubpages and wrote a very useful post you may also want to read: Keeping your Child’s Birthday Party Budget Friendly. It can be done with a little creativity and planning ahead and you can read all my tips that can help.
You can also see that from my Penguin Birthday Party I had for my daughter that I follow what I preach.
You will see I will be posting a bit and sharing my Squidoo RocketMom Assignments over the next few days. It is part of my summer school with Squidoo and Friday is my deadline to have all my writings in to graduate. Being a procrastinator I have been catching up writing a bunch last minute – BUT I would the best under pressure.
So with that being said I had to write a Recipe Lens – So I wanted to share a family recipe that we enjoy and is one of my favorites and it is How to make Corn Chowder. We have been making this for years and it is one of those recipes that the entire family loves. My husband is the one that usually makes it – he loves to cook – me not so much. When I do like to cook I have to find recipes that show pictures of what I am making – this has become a joke in my family. So of course I share all the step by step directions to making this chowder with photos. The best part was that I got to make my husband cook up a batch so I could document the steps – extra bonus!!!
So as your mouth waters looking at the photos you can see how easy this recipe is and the best part of it is that it is so versatile. You can add in more veggies, chicken and your own spices to your taste. I share it the way we like to eat it, but sometimes we also change it around. My other favorite part of this Chowder is that is it so BUDGET FRIENDLY. So check it out and warm up your belly with my Family Recipe.
You can also see some of my other recipes on Squidoo I have written that are more family favorites:
Our Turkey Soup Recipe – Where we take all those leftovers from Turkey Dinner and create another great meal. This recipe was handed down from my Mother-in-Law.
My Chicken got Porked – This is where I wrap a whole chicken in bacon – for an easy delicious tasting meal.
So as part of one of my Squidoo RocketMom Assignments I had to create a Lens having to do with the next book I would be reading. This really stumped me since I have not picked up a book in many years. Well at least not like a novel or anything like that. I use to read a lot, but since the kids came and working I have just not found the time to do so. The computer is my book – I read a lot here, but I guess reading a good old fashioned book with pages is something we all should do now and then and maybe I will get back to it one day.
Anyway – I had to really think about this. Even though I do not read novels – I do read lots of Birthday Party Planning Books, Cook Books and Craft books to find inspiration. My sister had recently told me about this book she saw called 120 ways to transform a T-Shirt and it was on my list. So I said to myself this counts – it is a book. So I wrote about it. Now even though I have not read it yet I am now extra excited to get it and do so. I am so amazed at all of the great ideas there are to take your ordinary T-Shirts and repurpose them into something new.
So if you are crafty like me and have a million T-Shirts you cannot part with then you have to check this out. The ideas are simple and amazing and require no sewing to minimal sewing. I cannot wait to get started and I will share my creations once I have the book and I get creating.
Oh and for those who know Squidoo – I received a Purple Star for this one within days of it being up – that shows many others have enjoyed this as well. So I know it was definitely a great share. CLICK HERE to see what I wrote and learn more about this and Megan Nicolay’s other book.
So in my last post I wrote I went to the Beach. So I had another Squidoo assignment to complete for a travel lens – so what did I write about? Long Beach Island, NJ of course. If you are looking to take a vacation to the Jersey Shore this is a must see – located central to Atlantic City and Wildwood this is a wonderful place for the whole family to enjoy. I know I loved it so much I will definitely go back again.
There is so much to do, the beaches are clean, the people are friendly and did I mention how relaxing it is? Even with the kids. So stop by take a look and start planning for fun days on the beach.
