Everything Elmo

I just updated my Squidoo Lens called All About Elmo and it now includes all the latest Elmo Toys for your Christmas 2009 shopping. One new product that is out for this year and will no doubt be one of those must haves like the Elmo Live was last year is Elmo’s Tickle Hands. The kids stick these hands on and listen to the new Elmo song called the Tickle Hand Groove. The kids will have so much fun as they feel the glove4s vibrate and say funny sayings from Elmo. In addition to the gloves you also get a DVD that will interact and teach the kids the new dance moves.

Even though my kids are grown and the Elmo stage is done in my home – there is something about the Furry Read Monster from Sesame Street that I will always love. Maybe it is his contagious Giggle.

Birthday Party Supplies for Kids

I had another Squidoo RocketMom Assignment to make a How To Lens. So I thought that I would create one for parents on How to find The Best Birthday Party Supplies and Ideas for your Party. Being a Party Planner I know that finding just the right Party Supplies and Decorations for your party theme can be a bit overwhelming at times. So I wanted to share all of the great places I use when shopping for  a party.

It turned into my Top 10 places to find Birthday Party Supplies. So if you are planning a Birthday Party and looking for the supplies to go along with your theme – then these recommendations will definitely help you along with my tips on purchasing party supplies and decorations.

How to make Corn Chowder

You will see I will be posting a bit and sharing my Squidoo RocketMom Assignments over the next few days. It is part of my summer school with Squidoo and Friday is my deadline to have all my writings in to graduate. Being a procrastinator I have been catching up writing a bunch last minute – BUT I would the best under pressure.

So with that being said I had to write a Recipe Lens – So I wanted to share a family recipe that we enjoy and is one of my favorites and it is How to make Corn Chowder.  We have been making this for years and it is one of those recipes that the entire family loves. My husband is the one that usually makes it – he loves to cook – me not so much. When I do like to cook I have to find recipes that show pictures of what I am making – this has become a joke in my family.  So of course I share all the step by step directions to making this chowder with photos. The best part was that I got to make my husband cook up a batch so I could document the steps – extra bonus!!!

So as your mouth waters looking at the photos you can see how easy this recipe is and the best part of it is that it is so versatile. You can add in more veggies, chicken and your own spices to your taste. I share it the way we like to eat it, but sometimes we also change it around. How to reuse all of your old T-Shirts

So as part of one of my Squidoo RocketMom Assignments I had to create a Lens having to do with the next book I would be reading. This really stumped me since I have not picked up a book in many years. Well at least not like a novel or anything like that. I use to read a lot, but since the kids came and working I have just not found the time to do so. The computer is my book – I read a lot here, but I guess reading a good old fashioned book with pages is something we all should do now and then and maybe I will get back to it one day.

Anyway – I had to really think about this. Even though I do not read novels – I do read lots of Birthday Party Planning Books, Cook Books and Craft books to find inspiration. My sister had recently told me about this book she saw called 120 ways to transform a T-Shirt and it was on my list. So I said to myself this counts – it is a book.  So I wrote about it. Now even though I have not read it yet I am now extra excited to get it and do so. I am so amazed at all of the great ideas there are to take your ordinary T-Shirts and repurpose them into something new.

So if you are crafty like me and have a million T-Shirts you cannot part with then you have to check this out. The ideas are simple and amazing and require no sewing to minimal sewing. I cannot wait to get started and I will share my creations once I have the book and I get creating.

Long Beach Island New Jersey

So in my last post I wrote I went to the Beach. So I had another Squidoo assignment to complete for a travel lens – so what did I write about? Long Beach Island, NJ of course. If you are looking to take a vacation to the Jersey Shore this is a must see – located central to Atlantic City and Wildwood this is a wonderful place for the whole family to enjoy. I know I loved it so much I will definitely go back again.

There is so much to do, the beaches are clean, the people are friendly and did I mention how relaxing it is? Even with the kids. So stop by take a look and start planning for fun days on the beach.

I made it into the Squidoo Giant 100 Club

A Proud Member

Wow I got an email yesterday saying I had made it into the Squidoo Giant 100 Club. So what does that mean? Well for one it is a HUGE honor at Squidoo and the highest yet. It also means that I have created over 100 quality lenses (pages).  You also get some extra perks when you are in this club and that is always a good thing – I like perks. I have worked hard making my lenses  – since I became a Squidoo member on August 10 2007 I have made 130 lenses (pages) and growing everyday. Be sure to come stop by and see my Lenses (pages) for some fun and great info.

I really love Squidoo and being able to write about things I want to write about and making money while I do it – that is an added bonus. And the biggest bonus is being able to donate some of those earning to charity a nice way to give back to society.

I started writing on Squidoo originally to promote my business The Party Animal and then became addicted and started writing about all kinds of things. I found I really like to write and I have my own fun style which people remember me by.

I even have a lens (page) on politics, Dear Mr President – Barack Obama, and I hate politics . It is just what Squidoo does to ya. I tell people who are not aware of Squidoo that if they like to write and want to make some extra spending money while they do it – then sign up. I do always add a caution: You will get addicted and may need a Squidoo Intervention.

Squidoo Home for The Holidays Contest Winners 2008

Today I announced the winners of The Squidoo Home for the Holidays Contest for 2008. That took some time, but there were so many great pages that won and really deserved the honor. I cannot believe all the great things I learn at Squidoo and how it really helped me this past holiday season. I know The Squidoo Home for the Holidays Page will only grow and by next year you may not need to shop anywhere else.

It is nice to read all the great recommendations and traditions everyone has – it is just nice to know we all really enjoy the holidays – well most of us that is. There are those that are Scrooges, but Boo to them!!!!

I know I enjoy them myself, but I am also so glad when they are over and I can just relax and get back to business.

Squidoo

Squidoo has gotten hold of me

So I guess I should talk about Squidoo – being that is what the large majority of my Blog is all about.  I joined Squidoo back in August 2007 mainly to promote my party business – The Party Animal. Which is what I did – at first. I am not sure how I found it – maybe through a search or something. So I thought it looked like a great way to promote myself so I made a page – well what they call a lens on Squidoo. I found it was so easy to do and it was bringing traffic my way and one thing led to another and I became addicted – which is very easy to do.

Yes I am now a full fledged Squidoo Addict.

What I really love about Squidoo is that it is so user friendly – anyone can do it. My nephew is even doing it at age 7 – I mean he has some work to do, but that is how easy it is. The next best thing is you can make money by writing about things you like. The money is made from links you post on the lenses (pages) to products on Amazon, EBay, Banners and others you can choose from. When someone clicks off and purchases an item you get a percentage of that sale.  Now I would not quit your day job – it is not a get rich quick type thing, but each month I have been making more and more money. Oh did I mention it is FREE? The other wonderful thing about Squidoo is:  you can donate some or all of your money earned to charity. A lot of people in the Squidoo community do that which I think is wonderful. I do as well, but not all of it.

I also use Squidoo to promote my EBay – so when I have my overstock items listed from my party business it is just more traffic to my EBay to help increase my sales.

But best of all I found out I love to write and I choose things I know and enjoy. I have learned so much not only from doing research for my pages, but from others who write there as well. The Squidoo Community is wonderful and we are mostly all in it for the same thing – the joy of writing, making money, promoting our businesses and giving to charity.  So if that sounds like something for you – then check out my :

So I created the Squidoo Guide to Gardening

So while all of us squidoo-ers are trying to think of what to write over the winter, I decided to give them some ideas and a place to post their lenses. So I made a lens on The Squidoo Guide to Gardening. I want it to be a place people can go and find lots of great information on gardening, garden decor, landscaping and more. The people who write on Squidoo write some really great stuff and it will be a great resource to all things for gardening I am sure. I have already added on a bunch of my own pages I started writing about. I am looking forward to seeing that grow over the next few months and even watch it get into the top 100 on Squidoo. So Start Thinking Spring Folks……….
