Christmas Aftermath my Cat has Cancer

Ahhhh Christmas is over and now it is the calm after the storm. The kids were very happy with all their gifts this year and now they stay busy playing while they have off from school. They have been so busy that not once have they asked to have friends over – now that surprises me. So many new things to play with I guess.

On the down side just before Christmas on the 21st my cat Bugsy who is 15 years old was diagnosed with Cancer.  Not what I was expecting to hear when we brought him to the vet. He has oral squamous cell carcinoma and it is one of those cancers that is not good – not that any ever are.  I chose not to get a biopsy due to the fact of his age and that the Cancer is under his tongue in the lower jaw and even if it was 100% confirmed there is no treatment that will cure it. On top of that Bugsy has Feline HIV which does not help his situation either. So right now I have meds and pain killers to help keep him comfortable until it is time. I hate this part of being a pet owner. Right now he is still eating, drinking and purring, but it will not be long at all before I have to make that dreaded decision.  I just know I do not want him to continue to suffer in any way. I am currently working on a Squidoo Lens dedicated to him and this horrible Cancer and maybe I can help others be aware of this before it is too late.

So the calm after the storm will not last here in my house for I feel that 2010 is not going to start off on the right note for me. In addition to that my Senior Dog Bailey is also just about 15 and her time is nearing as well.  I have to tell myself that they are spoiled rotten, well taken care of and have had great lives. Many pet owners do not get to say their animals have lived so long. Can you tell I am writing to help ease my pain? Sometimes writing helps me do that. I would rather be writing about parties right now vs. my pets and this part of their lives.

I will keep you all up to date and post the dedication link here when it is complete – not easy to write for me.

Pre-Kindergarten Student gets kicked out of Class due to Long Hair

So I am watching Fox News this morning and sipping my coffee and this news report comes on about a 4-year-old Pre-Kindergarten Student that has been kicked out of his classroom due to long hair. Now the school has a dress code policy which has certain guidelines about hair length and style.  Obviously his does not meet the guidelines. So for that this child has been pulled from his classroom and must spend his day in the library away from the other students.  He is more than welcome to go back and join his class if his mother was to have his hair trimmed.  So now I watch the mother get interviewed and state she will not cut his hair, but wants him to have an education. She says he likes his long hair and so does the family.

Now I sat there and thought about this a bit. First it started with – It is not right to be told what style hair you are or not allowed to have. So what if he has longhair.  How can then do this to the poor child.

Then I thought – Well they do have a Dress Code that had been read and signed upon registering your child to the school.  I know if I sent my kids to school in their underwear that would be wrong. Or of I sent my kids to school with teased out hair sprayed Orange – they would probably get sent home.  I don’t do those things because I know it is not allowed.

What gets me is this – The parents seem more concerned about the kids hair then him being in his classroom. He is only 4 years old and I am sure not all about his hair. It only requires a trim, but yet they would rather him sit in the library all day – not truly understanding what is going on. What will that do to him? How do they think that makes him feel – he is too young to understand the whole picture.

I understand there point and I would be upset by it as well, but the school has rules and they are what they are. I do not think the kid looks bad with his hair the way it is, but it is school policy. I would really be thinking about my child and how this is making him feel being ostracized and not about myself at this point.

I would love to know what you think?

How to have a Zhu Zhu Pets Birthday Party Theme

So last year it was Webkinz and now this year it is Zhu Zhu Pets – funny how things change so quickly and we move from one toy to the next.  It is just how things go and when the kids are obsessed with a new toy they will soon be asking you to throw them a party based on that theme. Again just like last year when Webkinz were all the craze there was no Birthday Party Supplies available to go along with them and this year with the Zhu Zhu Pets it is the same thing.  I helped so many parents last year with my Webfriendz Birthday Party Package based on a Webkinz Theme so this year I am helping again.

I worked really hard and put together a Zhu Zhu Pets Birthday Party Theme on my Party Blog to help parents in this situation. I am happy with how it turned out and I think I will be thanked again. I came up with the perfect Party Supplies, Invitations, Party Favors, Cake and Cupcake Ideas, Crafts and even created a bunch of  fun Zhu Zhu Pet Party Games and more.  It is not easy planning a party when there is nothing available out there to help  – well now there is and it is all laid out for you from start to finish. I plan to make sure my post is updated with all the latest party supplies as I find them. I just know once Christmas is past and the kids have their toys that parents will be scrambling as Birthdays come around. I have seen it happen before – so I did what I do best and took away that worry.

My review of The Princess and The Frog Movie

So on opening day of Disney’s The Princess and The Frog Movie – I went and saw it.  Just got back about a half hour ago. I decided to have a mom and daughter day and it is very rare that I ever see a movie the day it opens.  I am not one for crowds and busy theaters – just me.  I was luck that my local town theater was featuring this movie today – so I got extra lucky. So what did I think? I loved it – It is very rare that any Disney Movie would not be liked. The introduction of Princess Tiana was well done and it is nice to have a new Princess in the line up.

I think the movie sends a great message to younger children about working hard to achieve your goals and dreams. Yes of course there is also the fantasy of kissing a frog and finding your prince, but that is the fantasy part of the movie. I also really enjoyed all the Jazzy New Orleans Style Music throughout the movie and it really added to the charm. I think this movie had all the magic Disney Movies bring between the animation. music and the message. I came out of the theater with the thought – Dreams do come True and truly if you believe they will.

I give this movie 2 thumbs up and if you have the opportunity to see it – I say go for it. So once again – Welcome Princess Tiana – there is no doubt little girls everywhere are happy you have been created.

Now that I have seen the movie I will be making some changes to The Princess and The Frog Party Theme I have put together to reflect some ideas I have gathered from watching the movie. So be sure to come stop by and see.

What is with this new Baby Alive Doll that Poops?

baby aliveNow I had a Baby Alive doll when I was young and I liked it until my brother dissected it to see how it worked, but I do not remember it Pooping. My son saw the commercial on TV and told me I should Blog about it. So here I am blogging about a doll that poops – go figure. I do not know about anyone else, but this disturbs me a bit. The commercial makes it sound so exciting too.  The description is no better:

Baby Alive Whoopsie Doo Doll is an adorable, life-like doll that coos, giggles, eats, pees and even poops on her own, giving your child a fun-filled, true-to-life experience of what’s it’s like to be a mommy. Do you think we need to let our kids experience this at such a young age? Ok maybe it might be a way to get the kids to refrain from having babies so young – I just do not know what to think.

But wait if she goes Poop she will say “Whoopsie” – good thing she gives a warning most babies do not. I am curious to know what others think of this. I remember when that new Barbie came out a few years back with her dog that pooped and she has a scooper to clean it up with – what is going on? Are all the kids toys going to S*%T? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Watch the video below for a good laugh. So leave me comments and tell me what your thoughts of this doll are.

I saw the Michael Jackson This is It Movie Today

thisisit-mj-poster1My sister knew how bad I wanted to see this movie so she pre-purchased tickets for us as an early Birthday present for me a couple weeks ago. I could not wait to see it and today I did – it was well worth the wait. I would have gone with my husband too, but I knew he would make fun of me when I cried so he stayed home. Before the movie I packed my pockets with tissues so I was prepared. I must say I did need those tissues, but not until the end of the movie when it was over.

I cried for the loss of such an amazing talent and also for all the people who worked so hard practicing for this upcoming comeback tour. To think all those months of practicing and putting it together came to such a horrible end. Dreams that came true for them as they were picked to be part of this tour and then ended before it even began – my heart went out to them BIG Time. That must have been so hard on them to not only lose their dream of being on stage in front of an audience, but to have lost the man who was making it happen – their idol – Michael Jackson.

The movie was well made and really showed us just how involved Michael Jackson was in every aspect of his comeback tour.  It also gave us a taste of what could have been – and it would have been one of the best concerts to ever be. Things were being done that had never been done before and it is very sad that we will not get to see it all live the way it should have been seen. Michael was full of energy, excited and really looked the best he had in a very long time. He looked happy doing what he loved to do – it was nice to see. There was laughter, jokes and funny moments that really showed the side we rarely ever got to experience.

I really think that this movie is not it – we saw many glimpses into the songs and dances that would have been performed, but never the entire picture. I am hoping that they have footage of a complete run through dress rehearsal that will follow this movie for us to see it all. I have a good feeling they do – I am hopeful.

If you have the opportunity to see this movie then do it. It is  great even for those who may not be huge fans, because once you see this there is no doubt you will turned into one. Again my heart not only goes out to Michael Jackson’s Family for their loss, but also to the loss felt by all the talent involved in this tour from the dancers, back up singers, production team and everyone involved. I am happy I was able to see this movie and I myself will also always wonder like everyone else what could have been. I do know Michael Jackson will live on and “This is it” is not it and will wait for what is to come next.

Cupcakes Cookies and Birthday Cakes

Boy I have been busy on my Hubpages – I have been on a kick writing about Cupcakes, Cookies and Birthday Cakes. I guess I was feeling a bit SWEET lately. Nah – You know what it is? I really love cupcakes and that is what started it all and I am having fun finding some great ideas to share.  So let me share some of my newest Hubs that will give you ideas and inspiration the next time you are having a party – or maybe just for the heck of it. To each Hub I have added showcases of photos to give you all kinds of ideas – for me I like to look at the pictures and then create my own designs – so I thought I would not be the only one like that.

So here are the Hubs that I have completed with many more to come:

turkey cupcake

Turkey CupcakesEvery holiday when my family gets together we always plan an activity for the kids to do. One fun activity is to allow them to make their own Turkey Cupcakes.

reindeer cupcakes

Reindeer Cupcakes – Reindeer Cupcakes are not only a fun treat around the holidays, but a fun party activity the kids can do any enjoy. This is one of the things I do with the kids on Holidays and at Parties myself.

snowman cupcakes

Snowman Cupcakes – I love cupcakes and I love getting the kids involved in making them. I love to do this at our family gatherings and holiday parties and you can do it too. The kids love to eat them, but they also love to make their own creations.

Princess Birthday Cakes

Princess Birthday Cakes – Princess Birthday Cakes are so much fun to make and not as hard as they look. I am going to share with you some great Princess Birthday Cakes that you can create at home for your little princess. I think at some point every parent that has a daughter will have a party that has to do with a Princess Theme – it is almost a given.

Frog Birthday Cake

Frog Cakes and Cupcakes – I have been doing a lot of writing about The Princess and the Frog Movie and have come across some of the cutest Frog Birthday Cakes and Cupcakes so I figured I would share them for all of those looking for ideas. You can either use one of the recipes for one you like or use them for inspiration on coming up with your own designs.

popcorn cupcakes

Popcorn Cupcakes – I absolutely love these Popcorn Cupcakes and they are a fun treat for all your party guests. So many people are unaware that you can make a cupcake look like popcorn so you will certainly wow them as well.

pig cupcakes

Pig Cupcakes – Are you having a Pig or Farm Theme Birthday Party? Do you just love Pigs? If you answered yes to any of those then you will really love these Pig Cupcakes – I know I do. I have been doing a lot of writing on cupcakes lately and the design ideas are endless.

giant cookie birthday cake

Giant Cookie Birthday Cakes – Have fun at your next Birthday Party and instead of a cake – make a Giant Cookie Birthday Cake. Not only are they easy to do – kids love to eat cookies. You do not always have to have the normal type Birthday Cake at a party, sometimes it is fun to change things up a bit. With some ideas you will find here maybe you will be inspired to do just that.

Giant Cupcake Cake

Giant Cupcake Birthday Cakes – Now I love Cupcakes at Birthday Parties, but have you seen the Giant Cupcakes? I do not think a cupcake can get any better than that. Now obviously your Giant Cupcake would not be made for each guest, although I would be ok with that, it would be used as your Birthday Cake.

spongebob cake template

Easy Birthday Cake Patterns – I was recently doing a blog post on my Birthday Party Blog when I stumbled across these very cool Birthday Cake Patterns and knew I just had to share them. They are sold on Ebay from seller kidz-cakes and I think they are genius.

So far that is all I have in the Sweets, but there will be many more to come. I am also working on a complete over haul to my Birthday Party Blog which will take up most of my time and I already have a busy week. When I add more Hubs I will blog about it right here – so stay tuned. If you stop by some of my Hubs make sure you leave a comment and say ‘Hi”. Now go get baking in the kitchen!!!
